Baseball Splits Home Opener – University at Albany Great Danes

 Short Story: After falling in game one of the doubleheader, the University at Albany baseball team bounced back with a statement win over Maine, 17-7.

  • Ryan Ferremi led the way on offence with four hits, including a home run and a double, with four runs and two RBIs. 
  • John Vitucci reached base four times (two hits and two walks) while tallying three RBIs in the winning effort. 
  • Luke Filippi had two hits and three walks with three runs scored. 
  • Four other Great Danes recorded hits in the win – Luke Myers, Jared Toby, Thomas McElwee, and Michael Maggio

Head Coach Jon Mueller: “I thought it was a great bounce-back win in game two. Obviously, that starts and ends on the mound, it always does. Owen gave us a great six innings and the offense took advantage of some things that were given to us. I thought we did a good job with their start, he’s had a really good year for a young kid. We put some good at-bats together and lengthen that lead in the middle of the game. Tomorrow’s going to be a big day with a pivotal game in the series.”
