SALT LAKE CITY – The No. 18 California softball team fell, 3-2, in the series finale to Utah on Saturday at Dumke Family Softball Stadium.
Elon Butler had two hits to pace the Golden Bears (26-10, 4-8 Pac-12). Julia Jiminez drove in a run for the Utes (19-15, 3-9 Pac-12).
Cal fell behind in the first inning on a throwing error that led to a run, but the Bears answered right back in the second when Elon Butler raced home on a throw behind the runner to second base.
Tied 1-1 in the fourth, Lagi Quiroga gave the Bears the lead on an RBI double to score Butler, who laced a double to the wall two pitches prior.
Holding a 2-1 lead into the sixth, Utah rallied in the home half of the inning. The Utes scored on a throwing error and an RBI groundout to go up by a run and Cal went 1-2-3 in the seventh as Utah took the series.

Cal returns to Levine-Fricke Field for a midweek game against Saint Mary’s on Wednesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Network.
