Blue Devils Re-Enter Top-10 in D1Baseball Rankings

DURHAM – Following its second top-10 series victory this past weekend and a 3-1 week on the diamond, Duke baseball returned to the top-10 of the D1Baseball rankings moving up two spots to No. 9 in the country.

The Blue Devils began the week on Tuesday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field, defeating Campbell 11-1, as head coach Chris Pollard surpassed Steve Traylor for second place on the all-time wins list at Duke with 357.

On Thursday, Duke used a pair of first inning runs and another stellar outing by junior left-hander Jonathan Santucci to take the series opener against No. 9 Virginia, 9-4. After falling to the Cavaliers in game two of the series on Friday, Duke rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, stringing together a five-run frame to claim the series from the Cavaliers.

Duke was also tabbed as the No. 9 team in the country by Baseball America and the No. 7 team in the country by Perfect Game.

The Blue Devils travel to Lynchburg, Va., for a midweek contest against Liberty on Tuesday, before returning home to host Miami for ACC play at Jack Coombs Field.
