Texas A&M Baseball ranked in the top 3 in newest Coaches Poll

Prager & Grahovac recap win vs. Mississippi State

Texas A&M baseball (25-3, 6-3 SEC) has continued to live up to its elite preseason billing, now winning five straight games after sweeping the visiting Auburn Tigers last weekend behind the powerful bat of superstar outfielder Braden Montgomery. In contrast, freshman Gavin Grahovic continued his impressive hitting streak.

Earning the sweep in exciting fashion, the Aggies pitching apparently took the night off, as the Tigers continued to take advantage to tie things up in the 9th, sending the game into extra innings.

After logging his 16th home run on the year, Montgomery found another late ounce of energy. He recorded his 15th multi-RBI game on the year after hitting a double in the 12th, leading to Ted Burton’s game-winning hit up the middle to seal the victory.

The Aggies now have the best record in the country, tied with Arkansas and Clemson with just three losses on the year, is due to their impressive 6-3 SEC record, which has propelled the program into the No. 3 spot in USA TODAY Sports’ newest Coaches poll.

Arkansas remains the top-ranked school in the SEC, while Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, and Georgia are in the rest of the rankings.
