No. 11 Virginia Tech, Marshall postponed Tuesday by weather

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Due to inclement weather forecast on Tuesday night around the area of Huntington, West Virginia, Tuesday’s (April 2) baseball game between No. 11 Virginia Tech and Marshall – scheduled for 6 p.m. at Jack Cook Field – has been postponed, as announced by the Marshall athletic department. Both programs are seeking a date to reschedule the contest.

With Tuesday’s postponement, Virginia Tech (21-5, 10-2 ACC) will resume its regular season calendar on Friday, April 5, when Tech opens a top-25 home ACC series against No. 21 Wake Forest. First pitch times between the Hokies and the Demon Deacons are slated for 7 p.m. on Friday (April 5), 7 p.m. on Saturday (April 6) and 1 p.m. on Sunday (April 7) at English Field at Atlantic Union Bank Park.

Friday’s series opener between Virginia Tech and Wake Forest will air live on ACC Network. Saturday and Sunday’s games will stream live via ACC Network Extra.

Tech posted a 15-3 record during the month of March, including a 10-2 mark inside its home ballpark. The Hokies co-lead the ACC Coastal Division with their 10-2 league record, which ranks as the program’s best start to ACC play since joining the conference in 2005.

Virginia Tech is equipped with six offensive players who are batting north of .330 this season while its trio of weekend starting pitchers have combined to boast a 10-3 record and a 4.03 ERA. Entering Tuesday, the “Hammerin’ Hokies” possessed the third best slugging percentage (.634) among NCAA Division I programs as well as the third highest home runs per game clip (2.31).
