Wildcats Dispatch Lobos, 9-1, for Midweek Win

California

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (14-13) climbed back over the .500 mark with a dominant 9-1 victory over the New Mexico Lobos (16-12) on Tuesday night at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona rode stellar bullpen work and a dozen hits, half of which went for extra bases, to collect their fourth win in a row.

The Wildcats used six bullpen arms to cover seven of the nine innings against the Lobos, with the group combining to hold the visiting side to one run on four hits while striking out eight and issuing zero walks. Right-hander Dawson Netz (2-0), who worked the third and fourth innings, struck out a pair and earned his second win of the season.

Starting pitcher Josh Morano, a freshman left-hander making his first collegiate start, worked two scoreless innings to kick things off for the Wildcats. He did not factor into the decision.

Shortstop Mason White and second baseman Garen Caulfield both hit home runs and drove in multiple runs to lead the Arizona offense. First baseman Tommy Splaine paced the team with four hits, finishing the night a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and an RBI from the eight hole.
