By the Numbers look at No. 1 Oklahoma Softball vs. No. 4 Texas

The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners go on the road this week for a big-time showdown with the No. 4 Texas Longhorns in a top five Red River Showdown in Austin.

The Sooners are coming off a three-game sweep of a Kansas Jayhawks team that had limited Big 12 teams in scoring. Then the Sooners came along and put up 30 runs, including 17 in the middle game of the three-game sweep.

The Texas Longhorns had a rough weekend in Stillwater, getting shutout twice by Lexi Kilfoyl and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Still, the Longhorns are a dangerous team with National Player of the Year candidate Reese Atwood and a Texas team that’s really good on the basepaths.

Three games up in the Big 12 standings, the Oklahoma Sooners have an opportunity to distance themselves from Texas in the Big 12 regular season title race.

This week in Austin will be must-see television in the sporting world as the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns battle for Big 12 supremacy. Who has the edge? Here’s a By the Numbers look at Oklahoma vs. Texas.
