QUICK HITS: Pitt travels to Chestnut Hill, Mass. for a three-game series against Boston College from April 5-7 after spending the last two weeks at home. Saturday’s contest is scheduled to air on the ACC Network at 6 p.m. with the games on Friday (4 p.m.) and Sunday (noon) airing on ACC Network Extra.


  • Junior catcher KK Esparza is tied for first in the ACC and ranks 15th in the NCAA with 10 caught stealings.
  • Esparza is one of two primary catchers in the ACC to boast a .400 or better conference batting average and have three or more caught stealings by in conference play. In 11 conference games, Esparza has a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) without a passed ball.
  • KK Esparza and Kat Rodriguez are both batting .400 or better in 11 conference games. Rodriguez leads the Panthers and ranks 16th in the ACC with a .406 (13-for-32) conference batting average. Esparza is tied for 18th in the ACC with a .400 (10-for-25) conference batting average.
  • Kat Rodriguez leads the Panthers in batting average (.361), runs scored (17), hits (35), and on-base percentage (.422). Kylie Griggs leads the Panthers in OPS (.957) and slugging percentage (.571) and is second in home runs (7) and RBI (16). Cami Compson leads the Panthers in home runs (8) and RBI (18).
  • Rodriguez is currently on an eight-game hitting streak and is batting .500 (11-for-22) in that stretch. In the last 10 games, she is batting .429 (12-for-28) with four runs scored. She and has struck out three times in her last 55 at-bats.

APPROACHING THE 700 WIN MARK: Director of Athletics Heather Lyke announced NFCA Hall of Famer Jenny Allard as the fourth head coach in Pitt softball history in June 2023. Coach Allard is three wins shy of reaching the 700-career victory milestone and is currently ranks 42 among active Division I softball coaches in career wins.
