Dee Kennedy’s ninth-inning home run proved to be the difference as the Texas Longhorns baseball team bounced back with a 6-5 victory against the Houston Cougars to even the series on Saturday at Sanders Field in Houston.
First multi-homer game for a Kennedy wearing the No. 30 since Eric did so against San Jose State on 5/12/2023. https://t.co/mq39Adh5Zy

After a Kimble Schlusser home run gave Texas a 5-3 lead in the fifth, Houston’s Colby DeJesus and Anthony Tulimero hit solo shots in the seventh off Andre Duplantier to tie the contest.
Gage Boehm earned the victory for Texas, striking out three Cougar batters while pitching the eighth and ninth innings. Ace Whitehead started for Texas, allowing three runs on six hits in 4 2/3 innings pitched while striking out three.
The Longhorns (21-15, 8-6 in Big 12 play) look for the series victory Sunday. They currently sit fourth in the conference, two games back of West Virginia and Oklahoma. Even with some talking about underachievement by the team, it still has a lot of season left.
While losing their fifth straight series opener, the Longhorns strike out 16 times and are two-hit. Season may be on the line when Ace Whitehead takes the mound tomorrow. #HookEm https://t.co/a4EEQbZCva
