FORT WORTH, Texas – The Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award (BBNCSA), presented by SR Bats announced that Duke third baseman Ben Miller has been added to the midseason award watch list. Miller is one of four new additions to the list.
The BBNCSA, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The award is based on performance at the plate, academics, and personal integrity.
“We are only adding four student-athletes at midseason to the BBNCSA Watch List this year, but these players are phenomenal,” said Tracy Taylor, Executive Director of the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation and the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award. Along with Miller, Nicholls State’s Edgar Alvarez, Florida’s Jack Caglianone and Florida State’s James Tibbs III were added to the list.
Miller, a 6-foot-1 third baseman, has started in all 34 games he has appeared in, missing four games due to injury last week. He returned to the lineup on Friday evening at Virginia Tech and posted a 3-for-5 day with two RBI including the game tying RBI and game winning RBI in the top of the 11th inning.
On the year the Durham, N.C., native has posted a .457 average at the plate and leads the Blue Devils with 64 hits. He has tallied 15 doubles, one triple, 10 home runs, 12 walks eight hit by pitches and driven in 36 runners.
