College softball’s top 10 home run hitters this season

Karli Spaid

Another top 10 list in college softball is here. Let’s take a look at 10 of the top home run hitters and sluggers in the NCAA right now. This is not all of them.

*All stats are through 4/25/24

1. Karli Spaid, Miami (Ohio)

Again, only 10. We start off with this insanely scary hitting duo at Miami (Ohio): Karli Spaid and Jenna Golembiewski. This duo is simply not talked about enough. Spaid leads the country with 29 home runs and has 96 career home runs — she just recently passed Lauren Chamberlain on April 24 on the career list to move to second all time, and she did it in fewer games which is even more impressive. She leads the country in slugging at 1.104.

2. Jenna Golembiewski, Miami (Ohio)

Golembiewski has 25 homers on the season and is the only other player in the NCAA with over 1.000 slugging. Both hit for extremely high averages, too, with Golembiewski now at .440. Talk about a duo.

3. McKayla Timmons, Ball State

McKayla Timmons is next at Ball State. She has over 20 homers to join the Miami (Ohio) duo and is hitting almost .390.

4. Morgan Smith, Rutgers

I can’t talk enough about the breakout season Rutgers’ Morgan Smith is having, hitting almost .430 at the plate with 19 bombs. She had only five last season.

5. Michelle Chatfield, Virginia Tech

Michelle Chatfield at Virginia Tech is just a freshman, with 19 homers hitting over .300. To put that into perspective, Spaid hit 17 her freshmen season.

6. Mallorie Black, Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech’s Mallorie Black is leaving it all out there her senior season as another player whose raw power has exponentially increased throughout her career. She’s up to 19 homers and 60 RBI this season.

7. Kate Kobayashi, Miami (Ohio)

Another Miami (Ohio) player, Kate Kobayashi, is not too far behind with 18 bombs on the year to go along with an almost .400 average.

8. Addison Barnard, Wichita State

Addison Barnard has been one of the top sluggers over the past few season at Wichita State. She hit 22 over the fence her freshmen season, 33 her sophomore season, then her homer total was down last season to 14 — if you even want to call that down — and now she’s up to 17 in her senior season.

9. Jess Oakland, Minnesota

Minnesota’s Jess Oakland is another player having a…
