The Arkansas men’s tennis season is over after the Razorbacks lost to Cornell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.
Cornell, the No. 35-seed, shutout the 28th-seeded Razorbacks, 4-0. The Big Red won two of three matches in doubles and won three in singles to clinch advancement. Cornell will face No. 4 Texas Christian to cap the Fort Worth Regional on Saturday.
Cornell has now beaten an SEC opponent in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years. Auburn fell to the Ivy Leaguers in the 2023 tournament at the Durham Regional. Adit Sinha, Nathan Mao and Eric Verdes picked up the singles wins to clinch a second straight year of such.
Arkansas finished the season 21-12, achieving the program’s most wins since 1985. Twelve of those 21 wins came over teams ranked inside the top 75 and the nine-win improvement from last year for the Razorbacks matched the best turnaround since 2015-16.
