Cornell tennis beats Arkansas at NCAA Tournament

The Arkansas men’s tennis season is over after the Razorbacks lost to Cornell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday.

Cornell, the No. 35-seed, shutout the 28th-seeded Razorbacks, 4-0. The Big Red won two of three matches in doubles and won three in singles to clinch advancement. Cornell will face No. 4 Texas Christian to cap the Fort Worth Regional on Saturday.

Cornell has now beaten an SEC opponent in the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years. Auburn fell to the Ivy Leaguers in the 2023 tournament at the Durham Regional. Adit Sinha, Nathan Mao and Eric Verdes picked up the singles wins to clinch a second straight year of such.

Arkansas finished the season 21-12, achieving the program’s most wins since 1985. Twelve of those 21 wins came over teams ranked inside the top 75 and the nine-win improvement from last year for the Razorbacks matched the best turnaround since 2015-16.
