MADISON, AL – The Mississippi Braves closed their final trip to Madison, AL, on Sunday with a 3-1 victory over the Rocket City Trash Pandas at Toyota Field. Drew Parrish (W, 3-3) tossed 5.0 shutout innings to earn the win, and the M-Braves leave town with a split of the six-game series.

Parrish, making his second start of the series, retired the first nine batters to begin the outing. Gustavo Campero led off the bottom of the fourth inning with a single to give the Trash Pandas (16-16) their first baserunner of the game. Over 5.0 innings, the left-hander out of Florida State ceded just two hits, walking none and striking out three. Parrish has tossed at least five innings in each of his last four starts. On Sunday, his command was on point, with 42 of his 64 pitches for strikes.

The M-Braves (12-21) handed Parrish a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Keshawn Ogans and Tyler Tolve started the frame with singles. Geraldo Quintero plated Ogans with a sacrifice fly to right, then after a Cade Bunnell double placed two runners in scoring position, Justin Dean brought home Tolve on an RBI groundout to third.

Domingo Gonzalez relieved Parrish in the sixth inning. Campero had Rocket City’s only multi-hit effort, and the 26-year-old tripled off the left field wall with one out. Eric Wagaman brought him home on a groundout to cut the lead to 2-1.

Mississippi picked up a big insurance run in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Drake Baldwin. Cody Milligan started the inning with a single, stole second, advanced to third on an error, and then scored the run.

Jake McSteen pitched a scoreless eighth inning, and Hayden Harris closed the door in the ninth with a 1-2-3 inning. The 25-year-old lefty picked up his first save of the season and lowered his ERA to 0.71 over his first ten outings of the season.

The M-Braves will enjoy a day off on Monday after the trip home from Rocket City and then start a six-game series with Biloxi on Tuesday night at Trustmark Park. First pitch is set for 6:35 pm, with each time not yet naming their starting pitchers. Coverage begins at 6:20 pm on 102.1 The Box, Bally Live, and MiLB.tv.
