Hartford Yard Goats News Release

Hartford CT – The Hartford Yard Goats opened their six-game homestand with a 9-3 win against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night at Dunkin’ Park. The Yard Goats, who played as the Bouncing Pickles, used a six-run sixth inning to improve to 9-4 at home. Yanquiel Fernandez drove in four runs and belted a two-run home run in the victory. Carson Palmquist pitched six quality innings to earn his fourth win.

The Fisher Cats got an early start when Devonte Brown singled into centerfield with bases loaded to bring in two runs in the top of the first inning. However, Yard Goats starting pitcher, Carson Palmquist, settled in with runners on second and third to punch out of the inning.

The Bouncing Pickles continued to knock on the door of opportunity in the bottom of the sixth with a single from Ryan Ritter and a double from Braxton Fulford. However, Nic Kent broke that door down with a line drive up the middle that ended up being a two-RBI single. Yanquiel Fernandez contributed to the inning with a two-run single to make it 8-2.

Palmquist went six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts, and earned his fourth win.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Bouncing Pickles picked up an insurance run off a wild pitch that went all the way to the backstop bringing the score to 9-3 in favor of Hartford.

The Yard Goats will continue the series against the Toronto Blue Jays affiliate, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, on Wednesday night May 15th (7:10), at Dunkin Park. It will be Star Wars Night. RHP Jarrod Cande will start for the Yard Goats opposite LHP Adam Macko who will start for the Fisher Cats. The game will be streamed live on MiLB.tv and broadcast on the free Audacy app.
