The Somerset Patriots defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 1-0 in shutout fashion on Wednesday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark in game two of a six-game series at TD Bank Ballpark. Blane Abeyta (6 IP), Yorlin Calderon (2 IP), and Kevin Stevens (1 IP) combined for the Patriots fourth shutout of the season, allowing only four hits. Somerset’s four stolen bases (Ben Cowles, Agustin Ramirez, Aaron Palensky, Anthony Seigler) matched a season high.

RHP Blane Abeyta (6 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 K) delivered his first shutout performance of the season, allowing only four hits through six frames. Over his last four starts dating back to 4/23 @REA, Abeyta has thrown 17 IP, allowing only 5 ER (2.60 ERA) with 16 K and 4 BB. Abeyta delivered his second quality start of the season, after his nine last season marked the Patriots second-most.

RHP Yorlin Calderon (2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K) tossed two perfect innings in relief with 3 K. Wednesday marked Calderon’s fifth appearance of the season and third shutout appearance. Over his 6.2 IP with Somerset, Calderon has posted a 2.70 ERA with 7 K.

DH Oswald Peraza (1-for-4, HR) blasted a solo home run in the 4th inning, marking the ballgame’s sole run. Wednesday marked Peraza’s sixth overall game of MLB rehab and third with Somerset. Over six rehab games between Somerset and Class-A Tampa, Peraza is 4-for-18 with 3 HR.
