Texas A&M (43-10, 18-10 SEC) is currently in a dogfight with the Arkansas Razorbacks to end the regular season. The Aggies need to sweep the visitors to earn an SEC West title, while the Razorbacks need just one victory to end the year at the top spot. However, after Florida defeated Georgia on Friday, the Aggies have secured the double-bye and top-four seed in the SEC Tournament next week.
On Thursday night, Texas A&M escaped an elite pitching duel, earning a walk-off walk with bases loaded as Ted Burton strategically waited on each pitch to earn a critical 1-0 win in the 11th inning. On the mound, Aggies’ ace pitcher Ryan Prager recorded nine strikeouts and only five hits, while Arkansas ace threw for 14 K’s and allowed just two hits, so if you’re a fan of pitching, that was certainly the game for you.
With so much on the line for nearly every SEC program looking to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, the newest RPI rankings have been released after Thursday’s results. There’s a new No. 1, while the conference once again dominates the Top 5.
Note: Arkansas has won the SEC West regular season title after defeating Texas A&M 6-3 in Game 2 on Friday night.
