Erie SeaWolves News Release
Erie (22-15) dropped the finale of the series as Harrisburg (23-16) won 5-4 on Sunday.
The SeaWolves opened the scoring in the second against Senators starter Andrew Alvarez. Jake Holton walked and advanced to third when Trei Cruz doubled. Chris Meyers and Ben Malgeri had consecutive run-scoring groundouts to give Erie a 2-0 lead.
Carlos Peña started for Erie and ran into trouble in the third. Two walks and a single loaded the bases with two out. Dylan Crews cleared the bases on a three-run double, giving Harrisburg a 3-2 lead.
Meyers tied the game for Erie when he lined a solo home run in the fifth.
After Peña threw the first four frames, RJ Petit relieved him. The right-hander struck out the side in order in the fifth but surrendered the lead in the sixth. Andrew Pinckney and Crews hit consecutive doubles, with Crews’ double bringing home the go-ahead run. With two-out, Cortland Lawson singled home Crews to make it 5-3.
Erie loaded the bases with none out in the eighth against reliever Jack Sinclair after Christian Molfetta singled, Gage Workman walked, and Carlos Mendoza singled. After Hao-Yu Lee struck out, Jake Holton reached on a fielder’s choice ground out, which scored Molfetta. Erie did not score again in the frame and trailed 5-4.
Orlando Ribalta walked two batters in the ninth but struck out three to secure his fourth save. Alvarez (2-2) earned the win. Petit (1-3) took the loss.
Erie kicks off a series with the Altoona Curve at UPMC Park on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m.
