No. 1 national seed Tennessee (55-12) will open play in the College World Series on Friday. The Vols will play No. 8 seed Florida State (47-15) at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
“Seeing some of the local media, we did have a few fans,” Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello said on Thursday. “I’m not sure how they let people in the stadium, what the requirement is during BP, but we did have some ball fans out there, or kids too. Just happy that people get to experience this.
“The competition, juices get flowing. You kind of forget about that. At some point you have to make sure that you enjoy it if you are a participant, but more than anything, I’m thankful and happy that all the folks that rally around our program get to be here.”
