TODAY’S GAME: The Mississippi Braves and Montgomery Biscuits continue a six-game series on Wednesday afternoon at Trustmark Park. This is the third of four series between the clubs this season. The final series will be July 23-28 at Montgomery. This is the second meeting at Trustmark Park this season, with Montgomery taking five of six, May 28 to June 2.
ABOUT SUNDAY: The M-Braves returned to Trustmark Park on Tuesday and beat the Montgomery Biscuits 4-1 to start the season’s second half. Drue Hackenberg tossed 6.0 scoreless innings on two hits to earn his first Double-A win in his second M-Braves start and first of 2024. Hackenberg, the No.9 prospect for the Atlanta Braves, according to Baseball America, didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning and ended up matching a career-high with eight strikeouts, walking three, and giving up just two hits. Cody Milligan hit a two-run home run in the three-run third inning, and David Fletcher was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored to pace the offense. Anthony Vizcaya got the M-Braves out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning with a strikeout and added another in a four-out save.
