Braden Montgomery capped off a great college career by being the highest-ever Texas A&M position player to be drafted in the MLB Draft. On Sunday night, the Aggie outfielder heard his name called as the 12th pick to the storied Boston Red Sox franchise.
Montgomery came into Aggieland and instantly became a mainstay in an A&M lineup that was one of the most feared-hitting units in the country. If it wasn’t for his season-ending leg injury, he probably would have hit over 30 home runs and led the nation in RBIs.
Following his selection while putting on his Boston gear, Montgomery spent a few minutes talking about his journey to this point and what he was feeling at that moment. I think I can speak for all Aggies when I say that having Braden in Bryan-College Station was a joy to watch, and we wish him a healthy and productive pro career.
