SEATTLE – Washington head baseball coach Eddie Smith has announced that Jacob Hatloe will return as the Huskies’ director of operations.
Hatloe, who initially started as an undergraduate student manager, will begin his 10th season overall with the program in 2025. Hatloe was promoted to director of operations before the 2022 season.
In his role, Hatloe plays a pivotal part in various aspects of the program, from day-to-day operations to recruiting to budgeting and beyond.
Hatloe serves as liaison between the Husky baseball program and numerous departments at UW, including facilities, equipment, communications, marketing, compliance, nutrition, HR and the Tyee Club.
Additionally, Hatloe meets regularly with Washington’s head coach to discuss matters such as future scheduling, time management, compliance updates, scholarship breakdowns and conference communications.
Hatloe is the on-campus coordinator for Washington’s recruiting initiatives, acquiring compliance approval, assisting with the collection of transcripts for evaluation, creating detailed itineraries, coordinating travel, creating recruiting materials and executing campus and facility tours.
Each season, Hatloe is responsible for the planning and execution of all budgetary matters, team travel, road meal preparation and post-trip expense reports.
Hatloe also works closely with the Huskies’ equipment manager to execute all team needs. His duties include working directly with players and staff to satisfy needs, leading yearly meetings to place uniform and equipment orders, attending Adidas pitch meetings and making uniform rotation decisions.
On gamedays, Hatloe is responsible for coordinating with all gameday staff, managing UW’s PitchCom system, coordinating with the team’s event manager to resolve any issues that may arise and defensive charting to assist with pitch calling.
Hatloe is also tasked with the hiring and management of UW’s undergraduate and graduate managers. Each year, he sources and evaluates candidates, processes all HR related items, monitor’s pay schedules and provides communication between staff and student managers. He is also responsible for the operation of all camp related activities.
Hatloe graduated from the University of Washington in 2019 with a degree in Economics. In 2020, he earned his M.Ed in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership from UW.
