Malau’ulu, a native of Long Beach, California, graduated from UCLA in May with a degree in psychology and joins the Blue Devils as a graduate student. In her four years with the Bruins, Malau’ulu appeared in 133 career games and earned 103 starts, primarily at third base. She left her mark on the Bruins’ program in her final season, tallying career-highs in batting average (.294), on-base percentage (.377), hits (35), RBI (15) and runs scored (28). Malau’ulu also drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning against rival ranked Arizona on UCLA’s senior day to help guide the Bruins to their largest comeback victory in program history.
Mathis joins the Blue Devils after playing for two seasons at James Madison. A native of Westchester, Ohio, Mathis started in all 99 games she appeared in for the Dukes, seeing action at first base and second base. During her sophomore year campaign, Mathis led James Madison in RBI (38) and stolen bases (8), while tallying career-highs in hits (55) and runs scored (33). In her initial season with the Dukes, she garnered NFCA Third Team All-Region honors and was named a top 25 finalist for the 2023 TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year.
Farmer, a product of Leander, Texas, comes to Durham after spending one season at Penn. She made eight starts in 27 appearances with the Quakers and posted the second-highest batting average on the team of .317. Farmer collected 13 hits with five RBI, including a career-high three RBI during Penn’s 6-3 extra-inning victory over Brown in May. Additionally, she scored seven runs and held a 1.000 fielding percentage at the dish.
The trio is set to join freshman Ava Bradshaw, Gabby Mike, Hailey Shuler and Brooklinn Thomas as the newcomers on the Blue Devils roster for the fall campaign.
