On Thursday, Texas Longhorns baseball was busy improving their 2026 class. The Longhorns added one of the top prospects in the state, James Jorgensen, and the son of former big leaguer Cameron Maybin, Trent Maybin. While their college debuts are still over a year away, they both have the potential to be future stars.
In Jorgensen, Texas is getting a player whose fastball can already reach 95 miles per hour. He also keeps batters off balance with a slider that tops out in the low 80s. When he is not on the mound, Jorgensen holds his own in the infield and is a threat at the plate. That is partly why he is one of the top players in his class from Texas.

Joining Jorgensen is Maybin, one of the best outfielders in North Carolina. He brings a unique blend of power and speed that should fit well in the Longhorns’ offense. His dad, Cameron Maybin, spent 15 years in the majors and played for ten different teams.
On social media, Maybin expressed his excitement about his son’s future at Texas. On his X account, the 2017 World Series Champion quoted his Trent’s post announcing that he had committed to Texas with a caption that said, “Proud of you, Son.”
With Maybin and Jorgensen now in the mix, the Longhorns class has the chance to be special. Maybin should be a human highlight reel in the outfield, and Jorgensen has thrived regardless of position.
