Cougs in the MLB 2024: Ian Hamilton Season Recap

The 94-68 Yankees won the AL East and claimed the first seed in the American League. In his second year with the Yankees, Hamilton pitched in 35 games, while keeping a 3.82 ERA. In his 37.2 innings pitched, he recorded 41 strikeouts and only 14 walks. In those 35 games, Hamilton pitched 11 holds and a save while only allowing 16 earned runs. Hamilton’s save of the season came against the Seattle Mariners on September 18th in which he pitched a two-strikeout bottom of the 10th leading the Yankees to an extra-inning victory.

 

Hamilton was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 11th Round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He spent two years in the minor leagues before making his MLB Debut in 2018 for the White Sox. He was traded to the Minnesota Twins in 2022 and then traded again to the New York Yankees in 2023 where he currently plays.

 

The Yankees will host the Kansas City Royals on Saturday, October 5th, to start their 2024 ALDS campaign.
