Former head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle left Texas A&M for rival Texas hours after the team lost to Tennessee in the College World Series, sending the program into a frenzy.
At the drop of a hat, several stars from the 2024 roster entered the transfer portal, and the university quickly went on a nationwide search. However, Texas A&M Athletic Director Trev Alberts didn’t have to look far after signing player favorite and hitting coach Mike Earley.
So far this offseason, Earley’s hiring has looked like the right choice. Star hitters, including Jace LaViolette and Gavin Grahovic, withdrew their names from the portal, while ace pitcher Ryan Prager put his MLB future on hold. Just as important, they held on to a number of top transfers and recruits.
They brought in seven players ranked in Baseball America’s Top 100 and two freshmen in the Top 500. Below, you can see the players and their ranking:
