5 Oklahoma Softball stars included in Softball America’s top 100

The Oklahoma Sooners will have a much different look in 2025. Gone are Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, Kinzie Hansen, Alynah Torres, Alyssa Brito, Kelly Maxwell, Nicole May, and Rylie Boone. But that doesn’t mean the Sooners are devoid of talent.

Patty Gasso returns two of their best players from the 2024 Women’s College World Series run. They also brought in a number of impact transfers to go along with the No. 1 signing class in the country.

While they may not have as many recognizable names, Oklahoma will be a force again in 2025, led by five Sooners who were featured in Softball America’s top 100 for 2025

As a true freshman, Ella Parker led the Sooners in batting average, hitting .415. Parker also had 13 home runs and was second on the team in RBIs with 62. In the final four games of Oklahoma’s run to the title, Parker hit .500 with a home run and five RBIs.

Along with Parker, Kasidi Pickering exploded onto the scene as a freshman and became an everyday player for the Sooners. Pickering hit .389 with 12 home runs and 51 RBIs, including home runs in both of the Sooners wins over Texas in the WCWS final.

Abby Dayton is one of the incoming transfers expected to add veteran leadership to a young Sooners team. Dayton led the Pac-12 with a .431 batting average for the Utah Utes in 2024. She had two home runs, 28 RBIs, 10 doubles, six triples, 27 walks, and an on-base percentage of .510. Dayton feels like a candidate to hit leadoff for the Sooners in 2025.

Sam Landry was another big pickup in the transfer portal last offseason. She had a good year for Louisiana. She held her own in starts against Mississippi State, Baylor, and Stanford. She threw 197 innings and allowed an ERA of 2.09, recording 24 wins on the season.

As a sophomore for BYU in 2024, Ailana Agbayani hit .424 with five home runs and 33 RBIs. She also walked 30 times and was hit by pitch another 11 times. Agbayani recorded an on-base percentage of .462 on the season. She’ll be relied upon to play a middle infield role for the Sooners in 2025.
