Maryland Cruises Past No. 15 Oregon In Game One Of Doubleheader, 12-2

COLLEGE PARK, MD – Maryland baseball cruised past No. 15 Oregon, 12-2, with a standout hitting and pitching performance in game one of its doubleheader at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium on Sunday. The Terps improved to 16-20 overall and 4-10 in Big Ten play. This was Matt Swope‘s second win over a ranked team as head coach. 

The Terps scored six of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, stretching their lead to 10-2, which Oregon (23-10, 11-6 Big Ten) could not climb back from. The scoring run was headlined by a bases-clearing three-run RBI double by Jacob Orr. Calarco and Hill also recorded RBI knocks, and Chris Hacopian was credited with an RBI with a bases-loaded walk. 

Orr finished with a season-high four RBIs and a run. Through the first two games of the series, he has five RBIs, as he hit a solo home run in game one yesterday. Orr, Calarco, Hollis Porter and Brayden Martin all finished with multiple RBIs in the contest.
