CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Illinois baseball finishes a brief four-game road trip with a midweek contest at Indiana State on Tuesday. First pitch from Bob Warn Field in Terre Haute is set for 5:30 p.m. CT.

The Orange and Blue salvaged its series at Washington over the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Huskies on Sunday. Regan Hall (5.1 IP), Payton Hutchings (2.2 IP) and Zach Bates (1.0 IP) all turned in strong outings on the mound.

Illinois baseball concludes a brief four-game road trip with a midweek contest at Indiana State on Tuesday.

The two teams met earlier in the season with the Illini coming away with an 8-6 victory at Illinois Field.

Scott Beatty will call the action for the Illini on the Busey Bank Illini Sports Network (WDWS 1400-AM/93.9FM).

ABOUT THE OPPONENT

Indiana State comes into the contest with a 20-19 record, including an 8-7 mark in Missouri Valley play.

The Sycamores are coming off a series loss at Evansville,  having dropped the rubber match of the three-game set on Saturday, 11-10 in 11 innings.

IF/OF Carlos Pena is leading the Sycamores at the plate this season, posting an overall slash of .358/.446/.675 to go along with 11 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 43 RBI.

RHP Max McEwan leads the team’s qualified arms, going 5-2 with a 4.71 ERA (26 ER/49.2 IP) in 11 games, eight stats. McEwan has amassed 56 strikeouts and is limiting hitters to a .225 average. In the bullpen, RHP Jack Armstrong leads the relief staff, going 2-0 with a 3.51 ERA (10 ER/25.2 IP) in 13 appearances, firing 30 strikeouts.

Indiana State has gone 2-2 against Big Ten opponents that are not Illinois, this season, splitting season series with in-state foes Indiana and Purdue. The Sycamores lost contests to each team at home and earned wins over both sides on the road.
