SEATTLE – Alexis DeBoer was named one of 25 finalists for the 2025 NFCA Freshman of the Year award, the organization announced Friday.
On May 8, the list will be trimmed to the top 10 and the three finalists will be released on May 22. The winner will be revealed on May 27.
Since 2014, the NFCA National Freshman of the Year award has recognized the nation’s top freshman. DeBoer is the first Husky to earn the honor since Gabbie Plain in 2018 and the fifth Husky overall named to be named to the list.
DeBoer is one of five Big Ten freshman named to the 2025 list, joining UCLA’s Addisen Fisher, Rutgers’ Ella Harrison, Oregon’s Rylee McCoy and Michigan’s Lauren Putz.
On the season, she is batting .364 with 17 home runs, 48 RBI, 47 hits, 21 walks, seven doubles and a triple. Her 17 homers are 12th nationally and most in the conference by a freshman.
DeBoer was honored as D1Softball National Player of the Week on March 11. She held a .538 average with seven hits, five home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and five walks with a 1.769 slugging percentage as the Huskies had an undefeated weekend at the Black and Orange Classic. She also garnered Big Ten Player of the Week honors on March 3.
The Huskies close out the last two weeks of the regular season with their final homestand against No. 18 Nebraska tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and airing on FS1.
