Notre Dame got a great combined pitching effort from Shannon Becker and Kami Kamzik. Becker started the game and went three innings, allowing only a run on four hits. She also notched a strikeout. Kamzik relieved her in the top of the fourth and struck out four Tar Heels in her four innings while only allowing an unearned run.
Kaia Cortes put the Irish on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a looping single out to center that scored Rachel Allen from third to tie the game at 1-all. The freshman first baseman recorded two hits and drew a walk.
Notre Dame will look to salvage the season in its ACC regular season finale tomorrow at noon against North Carolina.
