THE FLATS – No. 8 seed Georgia Tech softball (27-21, 10-11 ACC) saw its 2025 ACC Tournament run come to a close after an 8-0 loss to No. 1 seed Florida State in Thursday’s Quarterfinal round in Brighton, Mass.
The Yellow Jackets will await their fate in the NCAA Tournament Selection show on Sunday, May 11, at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

- Kinsey Norton made her fourth start, 28th appearance, of the season in Thursday’s game and recorded a team-high three strikeouts.
- Sophia Voyles made her 31st appearance of the season, but only her eighth in relief, in the bottom of the third inning.
- Voyles finished her time in the ACC after recording 8.2 innings pitched, four strikeouts, one shutout, and a 1.62 ERA in tournament play.
- Reese Hunter led Tech’s offense as she went 2 for 2 with a single, a double, and stolen base. Hunter finished tournament play with three hits, one RBI, four total bases, a .750 batting average, .750 slugging percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage topped only by Addison Leschber who held a 1.250 slugging percentage.
- Her two hits brought her to seven multi-hit games this season.
- Leschber’s walk in the fourth inning not only extends her reached game streak, but ties the longest reached based streak of the season which belongs to Jayden Gailey (13 games).
- Prior to Thursday, the most recent meeting between Tech and Florida State was at the 2024 ACC Softball Tournament where the Jackets fell short in the Semifinal round.
- Tech’s one tournament win makes it one of two ACC teams to have won at least one game in each of the last six seasons, with the other being FSU.

How it Happened
- Norton began in the circle and with the help of the Yellow Jacket defense held the Seminoles scoreless through the first two innings. After beginning the third inning with a walk, Florida State hit a two-run home run over center field to take the lead.
- Following the home run, Tech sent in Voyles to relieve Norton after the two batters faced in the third. Florida State was able to score one final run in the third with a solo home run over left center before Tech got three straight outs.
- The Jackets forced the Seminoles to go three up, three down in the bottom of the fourth before getting two runners on base in the fifth, however both Jackets were left on base.
- Florida State stacked four runs on three hits with one Tech error to force Tech to trail by seven at the completion of five innings before one fine…
