Following a statement weekend over then-No. 13 NC State at Mark Light Field, Miami’s AJ Ciscar and Daniel Cuvet have been named ACC Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Ciscar delivered a dominant outing in the Hurricanes’ 10-3 victory over No. 13 NC State on Saturday. The freshman right-hander worked 6 2/3 innings, surrendering just one unearned run on five hits while striking out six and walking one.

Cuvet continued to be a pitcher’s nightmare, going 5-for-6 (.833) with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI against the Wolfpack.

CUVET AIMS TO MAKE MORE MIAMI HISTORY

Sophomore infielder Daniel Cuvet made history last season by breaking a 28-year-old freshman home run record, surpassing Pat Burrell’s mark of 23 set in 1996. Now, the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native is chasing more milestones.

Cuvet enters the weekend just two home runs shy of tying Miami greats Randy Guerra and Manny Crespo for 10th on the program’s all-time career home run list with 39 career homers.
