Hurricanes Close Out Home Slate with Notre Dame Showdown – University of Miami Athletics

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball team (30-21, 14-12 ACC) will face off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (30-19, 12-15 ACC) for a three-game series at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field. Heading into the final home series, the Hurricanes rank eighth in the ACC standings while the Fighting Irish find themselves in the 11 spot.

GAME INFORMATION

Miami holds a commanding 24-10 advantage in the all-time series against Notre Dame entering the weekend. The two teams first met in 1970, when the Hurricanes earned a 7-3 win in a seven-inning contest at Mark Light Field.

The most recent matchup between the conference foes came on March 24, 2024, also in Coral Gables, where Miami edged out Notre Dame in a 10-inning thriller.

The Hurricanes entered the series following their first conference series loss in a month, having dropped all three games at Virginia in Charlottesville. Meanwhile, the Fighting Irish arrive at Mark Light Field riding a six-game winning streak.

Sophomore slugger Daniel Cuvet continued his power surge with a three-run homer in the seventh inning against Virginia, his second of the series and 15th of the season. The blast, a line drive to right field, marked the 39th of his career, tying him for 10th all-time in program history with Randy Guerra (1976-79) and Manny Crespo (1998-00).

The sophomore slugger is also on the verge of another milestone, sitting just one RBI shy of matching his freshman total of 75. With his next RBI, Cuvet will tie Hurricanes legend and former MLB All-Star Ryan Braun for sixth-most in a season with 76.

Daniel Cuvet remains one of the hottest hitters in the country, batting .526 (20-for-38) over his last 10 games with six doubles, six home runs, and 24 RBI.
