NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt pitcher Sawyer Hawks is one of 16 semifinalists for the 2025 National Pitcher of the Year Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced Thursday.
Hawks is 4-0 this season with 15 appearances out of the bullpen. The right-hander owns a 1.55 ERA with six saves and has 51 strikeouts to eight walks over 40.2 innings.
Hawks was recently named Second Team All-SEC after finishing the regular season with the league’s lowest ERA among pitchers with at least six games played. He ranked sixth in the SEC in saves. Five of his six saves came in SEC games.
Hawks earned recognition from the NCBWA this season, being named to the Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List.
Finalists for the National Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced on June 4, with the 2025 winner to be announced at a date to be finalized later that month.
Hawks and the Commodores being their run in the SEC Tournament against Oklahoma in the quarterfinals Thursday in Hoover, Alabama.
