LYNCHBURG, VA. – After a stellar freshman campaign going 8-2, Anderson Nance has been named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American, announced Monday by the organization.
Nance appears on the second team and is just one of 34 freshman standouts nationwide. The 2025 NCBWA Freshman All-American Team features players from 33 different schools and 15 different conferences.
Nance is the first freshman NCBWA All-American since Dominic Fritton and Cannon Peebles in 2023. The Wolfpack have had an NCBWA Freshman All-American in three of the last four seasons.
Leading the Wolfpack bullpen, Nance tied for the team lead with eight wins this season, one save, and a 3.50 ERA. Nance had 53 strikeouts over 54.0 innings of work and held opposing batters to a .256 average.
The Eden, N.C., native was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team earlier this summer. In his first season with the Wolfpack, Nance pitched at least five innings four times, recording a career-high eight strikeouts against Davidson in March, also marking his first career start.
The Freshman All-American team is voted upon by the membership of the NCBWA. The 2025 NCBWA National Freshman Player of the Year and National Freshman Pitcher of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, June 10.
Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to advancing college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters, and publicists of the sport. For more information about the NCBWA, visit the association’s official website, www.ncbwa.com.
