IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team will play seven home games on Mediacom Court inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena as part of its nonconference schedule for the 2025-26 season, it was announced Thursday by P. Sue Beckwith, MD, head women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen.
The Hawkeyes will play one preseason exhibition game, hosting Ashland on Oct. 30. Iowa opens the regular season at home against Southern University on Nov. 3, followed by Evansville on Nov. 9. The Hawkeyes’ first in-state matchup will be against Drake on Nov. 13 in Iowa City, before traveling to face UNI in Cedar Falls on Nov. 16 and playing host to Fairfield on Nov. 30.
The Hawkeyes wrap up their nonconference road schedule on Dec. 10 with the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series matchup at Iowa State, before returning home to face Lindenwood on Dec. 13.
Iowa will also play neutral-site contests against Baylor on Nov. 20 and Miami (FL) on Nov. 22 as part of the WBCA Showcase in Orlando, Florida. The Hawkeyes will then take on reigning National Champion UConn on Dec. 20 at the Women’s Champions Classic in Brooklyn, New York.
Last season, The Hawkeyes earned two wins in the Big Ten Tournament and defeated Murray State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Iowa also secured its ninth straight 20-win season, the second-longest streak in program history. In her first year at the helm, head coach Jan Jensen added to the milestone by recording the second-most wins by a first-year head coach in program history.
