Miami Set to Compete at Southern Showcase – University of Miami Athletics

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Miami cross country team opens its season Friday at the Southern Showcase at John Hunt Park.

The men’s 8K will begin at 8:30 a.m., while the women’s 5K begins at 9:30 a.m.

Joining the Hurricanes in the loaded fielded include several USTFCCA South Regional ranked teams. The men’s race features 52 total including No. 1 Alabama, No. 5 Lipscomb, No. 6 MTSU, No. 8 Florida State, No. 9 Auburn, No. 10 Georgia Tech, No. 12 Belmont, No. 13 Jacksonville State, No. 14 Kennesaw State, and No. 15 North Alabama.

The women’s 54-team race features No. 1 Alabama, No. 3 Lipscomb, No. 4 Florida State, No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 8 Auburn, No. 10 Mississippi State, No. 12 MTSU, No. 13 Kennesaw State and No. 14 Belmont.

The Hurricanes return several runners, including senior Enrique Borrego and Nico Valentine as well as sophomore Prescott Noll.

On the women’s side, returning athletes include junior Maddie Scheier, senior Lexi Arambulo and junior Emma Hencock.
