IOWA CITY, Iowa – The No. 11 University of Iowa women’s soccer team tied Northwestern, 1-1, on Friday night at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes move to 5-1-2 on the season.
The first half was a defensive battle between the two big ten foes, with just six combined shots. Iowa was held to two shots in the first 45 minutes. Northwestern had one shot on goal while the Hawkeyes didn’t fire any.
Action picked up quickly in the second half, with Northwestern’s Allex Fallon finding the net in the 55thminute to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage. The goal was assisted by Megan Norkett,
Iowa was able to tie the match in the 73rd minute when junior Millie Greer found the net for her first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by freshman Sammy Reimer and graduate student Miah Schueller. It marked the first assist of Reimer’s career and the first for Schueller since Aug. 19, 2021 at Depaul.
A goal with two seconds remaining on the clock by sophomore Iba Oching to give Iowa the lead was called back due to offsides at the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
