Making her second start of the weekend, Lucy Trump filled the stat sheet Saturday. The Senior had 12 digs, tied her career-high with six service aces, three kills and two assists.

How it happened

The Irish overcame an early deficit to battle back in the first set and both teams continued to go back and forth. With the score tied up at 22, Notre Dame was able to rip a 3-0 run, including a Mallory Bohl kill to take the early first set. The Irish had five service aces in the first set, two of them coming from Lucy Trump.

In the second set, Notre Dame tallied 19 kills on a .389 hitting percentage, running away from the Lions late in the set to secure the second set 25-20. Morgan Gaerte had eight kills through two sets, with Avery Ross having seven kills on .429 hitting.

The Irish continued to roll in the third set. Three aces from Trump catapulted Notre Dame to a 5-0 start out the shoot that was pushed into a 12-2 scoring run to open the third set. East Texas A&M made a late push, but it was too much Irish at the end as Notre Dame went a perfect six-of-six on sets this weekend.

The Irish return to the home court on Friday when they host Michigan at 6:00 p.m. inside Purcell Pavilion. Admission is free to all regular season matches. Notre Dame will be celebrating 50 years of Women’s Varsity Athletics at Notre Dame at the name, also known as ‘Cheer Her Name’.
