Designated hitter and first baseman Blake Burke was named Southeastern Conference co-Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Buke went 5-for-8 against Georgia last week and hit two home runs in Thursday’s series opener, a 5-2 victory.
He recorded a pair of multiple hit games against the Bulldogs. Tennessee (45-7, 22-5 SEC) won two of three games in the series, losing Saturday’s finale, 8-3.
The Vols, with its series victory against Georgia, clinched an outright SEC regular season championship.
Burke also hit a home run in Tennessee’s midweek victory over Bellarmine on May 10 at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
