Power Rankings after 3rd weekend of conference play

SEC play continued last weekend and it gave us some great matchups.

LSU defended Alex Box Stadium against a strong push from the Tennessee Volunteers in a thrilling series. Kentucky and Vanderbilt both picked up series sweeps to continue their impressive start to the season.

The Auburn Tigers took game one from the Florida Gators but were unable to hold on and watched the series slip between their fingers in a disastrous game three.

There are still four teams that are looking for their first series win as a clear top and bottom of the conference is starting to emerge. Here’s how the teams stack up in our power rankings after the third series of conference play.

The Tigers are the best team in the country and they showed why against Tennessee. They shut down the Volunteer’s bats in games one and two to win the series before dropping the final game.

The Commodores swept Georgia to stay perfect in SEC play and they were once again dominant. They won games one and two behind some dominant pitching and the offense exploded for 16 runs to take game two. They are a complete team.

The Gators dropped game one as their bats went cold against Auburn but they heated right back up to take the series. They scored 29 runs in the final two games and look like one of the most dangerous teams in the country.

The Razorbacks dropped the first game against Alabama but won the next two to take the series, showing they can win in close games, something they will need to do in SEC play.

The Gamecocks picked up another series win and continued their success in close games. They dropped game two for their first SEC loss of the season but responded with a 14-5 win to end the series.

The Wildcats picked up another series win by sweeping Missouri. They did so in dominant fashion, winning games one and two by 10 runs each. Their 8-1 start in conference play is the best in program history and they have no sign of slowing down.
