BOSTON – Four members of the University at Albany baseball team have collected America East postseason awards, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Will Feil led the way as an America East First Team All-Conference selection. Jason Bottari and Will Binder each garnered Second Team All-Conference honors, while Matthew Mariano was named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team. For their efforts on the field and in the classroom, Feil and Bottari were both also named to this year’s All-Academic Team.
Bottari, also a captain for the Great Danes, finished his career as UAlbany’s all-time leader in stolen bases, totaling 109. He also holds the UAlbany single-season stolen base record, totaling 44 during the 2022 campaign. This season, Bottari batted a team-high .323 while also leading the team with 54 hits and 26 stolen bases. He finished with 35 runs, 19 RBIs, 31 walks, three doubles, one triple, and two home runs. The All-Conference and All-Academic Team selections are also the first postseason awards of his collegiate career.
Binder now makes it two consecutive years of being named a Second Team All-Conference selection. The junior batted an even .300 on the year, starting all 44 games for the Great Danes at third base. The Pennsylvania native drove in 26 runs and crossed home plate 29 times. He tied Bottari for the team lead in hits, collecting 54. Binder hit five home runs, good for second on the team, finishing with an OPS of .782, an OBP .371, and a slugging percentage of .411.
Mariano, who redshirted the 2022 season due to injury, enjoyed a solid first year on the mound for the Purple and Gold. He worked his way into the starting rotation, tossing a team-high 49.1 innings throughout the year. He finished with a 2-2 record, lowering his…
