Pitt’s Luke Cantwell Named to D1Baseball’s 2024 Impact Transfers List

PITTSBURGH – Transfer first baseman Luke Cantwell was recently named as an “Impact Transfer” by D1Baseball.com in their Top 130 Impact Transfers countdown for the 2024 season.

Since August 29, D1Baseball.com has periodically released their Top 130 Impact Transfers countdown list. Out of the 2,600-plus student-athletes that entered the transfer portal this past offseason, Luke Cantwell found himself listed as the No. 56 transfer for this upcoming season.

A transfer from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Cantwell hit .300 over his two years with the Knights while launching 20 home runs, knocking in 70 runs and maintaining a .470 on-base percentage.

The Warrington, PA native had the opposite of a “sophomore slump” as he entered his second season at FDU, improving his batting average by nearly 80 points.  Cantwell hit .331 as a sophomore and more than doubled his home run, RBI, double, and stolen base totals.  He had 51 RBI, 50 hits, 14 home runs, 13 doubles, six stolen bases, a .709 slugging percentage and was a First Team All-NEC selection.

He was the first ever two-year captain at Archbishop Wood High School, located just north of Philadelphia, PA, where he was named First Team All-Catholic League as a senior.

The Panthers have just completed their third week of fall practice and will announce their fall schedule this upcoming week.
