Gators Down Bulls in Exhibition Contest

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida softball team competed in its second exhibition of the fall Tuesday evening and outscored USF 11-2 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.

The Gators and the Bulls competed for a full eight-inning exhibition where the Orange and Blue outhit USF, 10-9, and scored 11 runs for the second-straight time.

Leading the way once again was junior outfielder Kendra Falby. Falby went 3-for-4 tonight with three runs scored and a pair of RBI, which brings her overall numbers at the plate to 6-for-8 with seven runs scored and five RBI through two exhibitions.

Tonight also saw the emergence of several of the new faces that joined the program in the offseason. Korbe Otis went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, while Jocelyn Erickson was 2-for-5 with three RBI. Erickson launched the Gators first home run of the fall with a two-run shot over the center field wall.

As a program through two exhibitions, UF is 23-for-70 (.329) with seven doubles, a triple, a home run and 16 walks.

In the circle, freshman left-handed pitcher Olivia Miller received the start and she tallied four innings of work in the circle. Miller finished with a pair of runs that were relinquished in the first inning and four strikeouts. Graduate right-hander Mackenzie Wooten followed with two scoreless inning of work before she gave way to freshman Ava Brown, who closed out the final two innings with five strikeouts and only two hits allowed.

Brown has six innings of work in the circle through two appearances with nine strikeouts and only three total hits allowed.

Florida takes on Saint Leo this Thursday, October 19, at 6 p.m. in another exhibition. The program is asking that fans donate a canned food item when attending exhibitions in the fall.
