Florida baseball betting odds Oklahoma State Cowboys Stillwater Region

USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll Week 6 update Gators

The Cowboys have the best starting pitching rotation out of the four teams in this regional, one that didn’t turn to either of its top two arms until the third game of the Big 12 Tournament. Facing the No. 4 seed, the Cowboys could throw Benge or even utilize the bullpen to keep him fresh for an elimination game.

Sam Garcia and Brian Holiday threw a combined 17 innings in the conference tournament, saving the best arms in the bullpen for the championship. Florida will likely see one of those two, but there’s no lesser evil here. Holiday has a 3.12 ERA and 118 strikeouts over 104 innings, while Garvia is sporting a 3.27 ERA with 110 strikeouts through 85 1/3 innings. Both men have walked just 18 batters this season.

While it’s true that neither of these arms has faced SEC-caliber bats all year, they are clearly among the elite starters in the country.

The bullpen is a mixture of names with inflated ERAs, but Robert Cranz stands out among the pack. He’s appeared in a team-high 29 games and maintained a 1.55 ERA over 46 1/3 innings. Left-hander Drew Blake, Ryan Bogusz, Gabe Davis and Tommy Molsky (96-97 mph fastball) are all frequently used out of the ‘pen. — David Rosenberg
