Jenn Salling Returns To Washington As Assistant Coach

SEATTLE – Olympic bronze medalist and two-time Husky All-American Jenn Salling returns to Montlake as an assistant coach, Washington softball head coach Heather Tarr announced today.

“Jenn Salling brings high-level experience in all areas of coaching to our program,” Tarr said. “Her recent experience under coach Cindy Ball-Malone at UCF readies her for this role. She will combine to help develop our offense and our defense. I am super excited to bring Jenn back home for this opportunity to continue building on the legacy of Husky Softball.”

Salling makes her way back to Seattle after a successful stint as an assistant coach at Central Florida the past two seasons. At UCF, Salling helped the Knights to back-to-back 30-win seasons and appearances in consecutive NCAA Regionals. Salling also served as an assistant coach at Roosevelt University (2013-14) and was a graduate assistant at Washington for two seasons.

During her time as a Husky, Salling was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, first team all-conference, a Top 25 finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and twice named an NFCA All-American. She held a .342 career batting average in the Purple and Gold and is fifth all-time with a .474 on base percentage. Salling drove in 92 runs over three season – including 43 in her senior season.

“Husky Nation, I am so excited to be back home,” Salling said. “First, I want to thank Coach Tarr and the University of Washington Athletic Department for providing me the opportunity to give back to the program that significantly impacted my life both as a person and a Softball player.

“I am honored to be in a position to carry on the 30-plus years of excellence that the University of Washington Softball Program has built,” Salling added. “Go Dawgs forever!”

Following her collegiate career, Salling was selected third overall in the 2011 NPF Draft. She spent four seasons in the pro ranks competing with the USSSA Pride and the Pennsylvania Rebellion.

Salling has competed in the Olympics twice with the Canadian National Team, first in 2008 in Beijing and in 2020 at the Tokyo Olympic Games earning the bronze medal alongside fellow Husky alums Danielle Lawrie and Victoria Hayward. At the 2020 Olympics, she hit .571 (8-for-14) to break Lisa Fernandez’s tournament record. Salling added five RBI and a home run to lead Canada to their first-ever Olympic medal.
