The Nebraska softball team will take part in the NFCA Leadoff Classic to open its 2025 campaign, the organization announced on Monday. Competition will take place in Clearwater, Fla., from Feb. 6-9. The last time the Big Red participated in the NFCA Leadoff Classic was in 2010.
NU will open its season on Thursday, Feb. 6 against Tennessee, which qualified for the Super Regionals of last season’s NCAA tournament. That matchup will start at 6 p.m. (CT).
On Friday, Feb. 7, the Huskers will see Southern Miss at 3 p.m. (CT) and Bethune Cookman at 6 p.m. (CT). The Big Red will then face off against Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. (CT) before taking a break on Saturday evening.
Nebraska will compete against Mississippi State in its final game of the tournament at noon (CT) on Sunday, Feb. 9.
Penn State, Northwestern and Iowa will also represent the Big Ten among the 17-team field in Florida.
NU’s 2025 roster features 24 players, including 14 returning letterwinners, six transfers and four freshmen.
