Makenna Bellaire Reclassifies, Joins Gators For 2025 Season


GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Makenna Bellaire, who signed her athletics aid agreement with the Florida softball team on National Signing Day in November, is reclassifying and will join the Gators starting this week.

She will be eligible to play during the 2025 season.

A freshman catcher from Land O’Lakes, Fla., she will wear No. 51 for the Orange & Blue.

Bellaire, who graduated early from Land O’ Lakes High School, is a three-time Class 6A All-State selection. She played travel ball for Virginia Unity Johnson/Ricks.

“I’m so excited to join this program,” Bellaire said.

“Coming in early, I get to be surrounded by my teammates who have already been through the fall schedule and know what to expec,t which I think will help me progress faster. This team is one of the greatest I’ve ever seen and I can’t wait to compete with them. I haven’t been so much nervous as I have been excited with the quick turnaround. I can’t wait to do the Gators proud!”

Bellaire joins Kylie Shaw as one of Florida’s two mid-year enrollees. The two join Gabi Comia, Layla Lamar, Taylor Shumaker, Katelynn Oxley and Townsen Thomas to make up the Gators’ seven-member freshman class.
