White, Summerhill Earn Perfect Game Preseason All-America Recognition

TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Baseball infielder Mason White and outfielder Brendan Summerhill have both picked up Third Team Preseason All-America honors from Perfect Game, the publication announced on Tuesday.

Today’s recognition marks the first Preseason All-America selection for both players, and the second All-America nod of White’s career, who previously was tabbed as a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball following the 2023 campaign.

White, a Tucson native, has logged time in 112 games across two seasons with the Wildcats and has hit .309 with 105 runs scored, 66 extra-base hits, and 100 RBI. As a sophomore in 2024 he hit .305 with a team-leading 19 home runs and 65 RBI while serving as the program’s everyday shortstop. White slugged his way to Pac-12 All-Conference honors, a spot on the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team, a selection as the Pac-12 Tournament MVP, and ABCA West All-Region First Team recognition last season while helping the Wildcats win a pair of conference championships and a host bid for the NCAA Tournament.

Summerhill enjoyed a break campaign last year in which he paced the team with a .324 batting average and a .399 on-base percentage. As a sophomore in 2024 the left-handed hitting outfielder scored 50 runs, collected 77 hits, slugged 37 extra-base hits, and drove in 65 RBI. Summerhill’s walk-off two-run double against Oregon State on May 18 secured the Wildcats sixth and final Pac-12 regular season championship. The Chicago native’s impressive sophomore performance earned him spots on both the Pac-12 All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.

Today’s announcement follows Monday’s unveiling of the Perfect Game Preseason Top 25, in which the Wildcats were ranked No. 12 in the nation heading into their inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference.

White, Summerhill, and the Wildcats open the 2025 season on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas. The Cats will return to Tucson for their home opener at Hi Corbett Field on Tuesday, Feb. 18 against New Mexico.
