The Nebraska softball team earned its third preseason ranking of the season on Tuesday, as USA Softball ranked the Huskers No. 16 in its preseason poll.
The Huskers are one of five Big Ten teams in USA Softball’s Top 25, as No. 6 UCLA, No. 20 Northwestern, No. 22 Michigan and T-No. 23 Oregon also represent the conference.
NU will compete against nine other teams in the poll this season – No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Tennessee, No. 6 UCLA, No. 8 Duke, No. 10 Texas Tech, No. 15 Missouri, No. 19 Baylor, No. 20 Northwestern and No. 25 Mississippi State.
The Big Red opens its season on Thursday, Feb. 6 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic against Tennessee, who was tabbed No. 5 in the poll, at 6 p.m. (CT) in Clearwater, Fla.
